This mint flavoured toothpaste recipe is very easy to prepare. For people who are not used to using natural toiletries, the taste and texture may seem strange at first. It will take a few days to get used to it, but once you do, you won't want to switch back to your old toothpaste.
Ingredients:
- ½ tablespoon of bicarbonate of soda
- 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
- 2 tablespoons stevia grains or birch sugar (xylitol)
- 1 tablespoon of mint hydrolate
- Optional: 3 drops of vitamin E (for longer shelf life)
Preparation:
Mix all the ingredients together cold until a homogeneous paste is formed. It can also be mixed with a blender. Place in a glass container, better if it is dark and in a place protected from light. Use by applying a little of the paste on the brush (do not put the brush in the container as it will fill with bacteria and will last less time). Keep in mind that in hot weather coconut oil turns from a paste to a liquid (above 25 degrees or so). So during the warmer months the mixture can become loose, so I advise you to store it in the fridge.
